Behind the Work:
As Lead Audio Engineer at CoinDesk TV from 2021–2024, I played a key role in launching a fully operational live news network during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Working with a small team of producers and technical directors, I helped build a hybrid production studio in New York City’s Flatiron District, designed for remote operability to ensure continuity during shutdowns and quarantine protocols.
I engineered audio for three live daily broadcasts—First Mover (9am), The Hash (12pm), and All About Bitcoin (3pm)—mixing in real time via an Allen & Heath console, remotely accessible through secure network routing. Our video switching and graphic layout system ran through vMix, allowing seamless multi-location contributions.
Key responsibilities included:
Design and execution of mix-minus/mix-plus routing
Live IFB and PL communication systems
Remote coordination with field producers and talent
Troubleshooting complex signal chains in hybrid environments
Equipment inventory, patching, and session logging
Quality control and file delivery for archival and post
I also supported large-scale offsite productions, including CoinDesk’s Consensus Conference, providing on-site and remote engineering for panel discussions, live hits, and satellite uplinks. This role demanded deep fluency in broadcast audio standards, fast-paced technical adaptability, and the ability to keep high-stakes productions running smoothly under evolving constraints.
